And check out the end, they are going to make Rudeness a criminal offence.

What are your thoughts?

I have seen, or heard of, or witnessed on television ( notably the Dr Phil show ! ) relationships which I wouldn't hesitate to describe as abusive, and the ' culprits ' could be of either sex. These usually involved a pattern of abusive behaviour over a period of time.

I question, though, whether our existing laws are not adequate to deal with this situation already. One off minor incidents should never be criminalised.

My only worry would be the proof in these instances - there are so many cases, currently, where lies are told or truths exaggerated or stretched because folk have other agendas - so this 'my word' against 'your word' will just get crazy.

Also, how many people in abusive relationships report in the heat of the moment, then won't proceed to prosecute or leave their abusers. For many reasons they stay in the relationship (and the abuse does not stop :() . Its then hard to help/assist from an external or 3rd party point of view.

Hi are you a TKD practitioner?
I have long suffered verbal and psycological abuse of which then physical abuse was borne and grew. I read the article you referred to and wonder if you too have had the unfortunate experience yourself. My ex is a 5thDan in TKD, a renowned fighter.

Seriously. How will they define rudeness. I can see our prisons overflowing huge numbers of people given how rude people are now days.
