OK well perhaps mediation for you was refused because DV was a factor?? But that wouldn't stop counselling for the children.

www.relate.org.uk/

www.helpguide.org/mental/children_divorce.htm#additional

and probably more if you google.

I'd suggest going through your GP who will know about local services and can refer you to the NHS ones.

Hi
My 3 children have received counselling and continue to do so I believe its the best way to help. They get to speak to an adult who is on their side but can explain why mum and dad behave the way they do and the reasons why. Never have my kids blamed themselves. Their behavior will change they become more expressive but after a while you see a marked difference in their coping strategies. NSPCC are your fastest route in my experience as they assess the situation with you and offer counsellin in groups then as individuals. There is also online help available a good one is www.kooth.com it was given to me by NSPCC counsellor for my teenager.
If youd like anymore info please pm me or post in forum.
Hope you find help soon x

Fiona my husbanfd refused to go to family mediation before we seperated in 2000 .....our kids declared its always Dads way or no way. Regards mediation they refused on the grounds that I would not drag the kids through a residency battle and even if I had wanted to I was refused legal aid for any issues regards the children.hard to believe I know...but I have kept a paper trail ....this helps me stop going insane with the lack of support I have received......thanks for the link

Noregrets....thanks...it took 4 years for GP to get me 40 counselling sessions....by then I had been dealing with homelessness, smashed legs, loss of career, court, corrupts sols, self reppin....the 40 helped...but couldnt get more

Gorgeous...I have no contact at all with the children...but thanks for the link...who knows

Thanks guys

Elle
