Hi, I''m after a divorce. I''m worried though as there is no mortgage on the house, but my name isn''t on the deeds. However, we do have two children together and he has been violent.

First thing you need to do is contact Land Registry and register a matrimonial home Rights notice.

Thank you, I''ve a Solictors meeting on Friday. I will say I want that doing. We''ve always lived here together. He''s made threats against me and the house. My children are both still school age, and my youngest is autistic.

I think you can do it yourself to save money-I know it was the first thing I did after initial meeting with solicitor. Its a very simple form, but he will receive a copy I seem to remember - just so you are aware there may be fireworks. I really feel for you and hope things get sorted asap

He''ll go mental, he has no idea I want a divorce. The depth of his deception knows no limits, I also need to involve the police.

Does this give me the same rights do you know?
As I''m a full time student, he can afford to find somewhere else.

I would suggest you contact Women''s Aid ASAP for support. Is there documented evidence of DV? They will be able to help you plan a safe exit strategy. If there is documented evidence of DV you may be able to get legal aid. It is important to protect yourself and the children.
