What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hi
The divorce paperwork has just been received by my ex.
How long does an uncomplicated Clean Break divorce take nowadays at BSE? I have been reading about disturbing processing times of a year .. is that still the case?
Thank you in anticipation.

Thank you so much for your reply, it really is very kind of you. I am not sure of the procedure or even the terminology. I’m just trying to ascertain how long it will take from beginning to end. My pension is rather dependent upon my divorce being finalised. They do look as if they are on top of things though don’t they? I do hope so.

I hope they are too, these delays cause unnecessary distress to those going through divorce.

Don't worry about not understanding the procedure or terminology, that's what we are here for - to help. Just post your questions and someone will be able to help out :)
