What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Does anyone know how long after the vacated court date for first appointment it takes for the judges directions/order to be sent out?
FDA should have been last week but was vacated and the accelerated procedure was used - since then we've heard nothing.

Where accelerated procedure is used, the parties agree the directions before the hearing and submit these to court to avoid the hearing. This means that you should already know what the directions are.

Normally the documents are uploaded to the court and they come back with the Court seal which ratifies the order. This is usually within a few days.

Thank you. I'll follow it up as it's been over a week.

Just in case anyone is in the same position, I heard back from the court today. It's being scheduled for another hearing with directions expected in 10 days - so that will be 3 weeks after the original first appointment date. It'll be interesting to see what the directions order says, because some of the deadline dates agreed by both parties in the draft one will have long passed by the time the order is signed!
