What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hello

I have waited for my FDR for 4 months, as it was adjourned the first time in June. Now my ex's barrister is sick so it will be cancelled again!! I am living in a small flat while my ex with 2 teenage children is living in the family home. My children don't stay the night with me as my accomodation is so small. I need this FDR to move on with my life.
I know about private FDR's, they are expensive and I also hear there is no right to appeal (might not be relevant in an FDR though).
Does anyone know about private FDR, or any alternative to the FDR?

Thank you
M.

Can the Clerk to your Chambers not provide another barrister in place of yours? Worth asking, it sounds like you need this FDR to go ahead.

I couldnt agree with you more. Its her barrister not mine.
Apparently 2 days is not enough to get a new barrister read in. My ex has medical issues that are complex - but again, not that difficult.
I do not understand what is so hard about getting a new barrister!
But they are adamant, and costs have already been incurred.
It's just a total mess - the whole court system.
What happens next time - the judge has a cold????
It's a broken system that needs urgent remedy!!
