What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hi,

to date in our divorce we have not valued my wifes companies, she says they are worth nothing, but has just submitted her micro accounts which I have copied below - to me this reads that there are about 130k of assets in the company, am I reading it wrong? She is a 100% shareholder and director.

AFAIK if the figure is in brackets it is a minus number. So it would appear there's a socking deficit - although presumably the company will continue to earn income so can afford to pay creditors.
I would be interested to know who the creditors are. It may be that she's taking more out of the business.

Yes it's a negative number but it's interesting that from only £10k liabilities she has racked up £120k extra in the space of a year so it may be worth looking at the entire accounts to see if anything is being massaged if you are currently trying to agree a settlement
