What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hi,

My friend requires a wet floor shower as assessed by OT and was looking for SSAFA funding to support this. Her ex husband served in the forces and he is now deceased, would she still be entitled to funding as she was married to him while he was serving?

Thanks

She would need to check her eligibility for financial help from SSAFA from SSAFA themselves.

My understanding is that SSAFA help serving and veteran personnel and thier families - if your friend is no longer married to a veteran, then I dont think she will be viewed as family.

There are other sources of financial support for disabled people, including local councils. The CAB should be able to signpost your friend to local and national disability organisation who provide financial support.
