What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Help please! representing myself as exhausted pot of money for legal fees. I find point 5 on Form C "the parties must file at court a bundle" a little ambiguous - or maybe I'm just being a bit dense .... does this mean the bundle contains MY documentation, or does it include my ex's documents too?

TIA for any help here.

The court bundle is all the documents the judge needs to help them understand the case. - or at least the main ones.it has an index and the pages are numbered to make it easy to navigate. It is usually put together by the applicant. If they are unrepresented and the respondent has a solicitor, the solicitor does it.
Court bundles follow a strict format set out in Practice Direction 27A. They need to include an ES1 and ES2. For First Appointment you also put in questionnaires, a chronology, Forms E (without attachments), process documents - applications and orders, including conditional order final order in the divorce.
If you need help with the process you may want to look at our Help with Court service.
