What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

I have posted here before but have decided to submit a new post. Our FDR hearing has been set for early December. I am a litigant in person and my husband has a fully instructed solicitor. I was hoping the barrister who had helped my in our earlier hearings would be able to represent me again. However, I have been advised that he does not accept financial remedy hearings on direct access.

I have made a further enquiries. However, am not getting any replies to my emails.

I am therefore reaching out to for any recommendations. It would be great if someone has successfully used a barrister for their financial application. There is non disclosure that needs to be addressed and other issues. We separated in 2021. All other areas have been agreed except financials.

Am a little worried now as I need to start preparing for the hearing and ideally would prefer to start with the right advice. I was going to represent myself but have been advised not to by my friend who is a solicitor due to the non-disclosure and documents submitted that clearly are not genuine.

Thank you all
