What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

My husband and I have sold our home and split the proceeds. I have purchased a home and he's considering using his proceeds to buy abroad. We are in agreement that everything we each have at this point and at any time in the future is our own. As he's run up debt in the past and impacted my credit score I want to protect against that. I also don't want to disclose any personal information to him, for example, address, salary etc. We have started divorce proceedings, awaiting conditional order.
what's the easiest, most cost effective way of doing this as he doesn't see the point in the paperwork.
