What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

I have a larger pension than my ex, (mine is 300k and his is 60k) while I am aware that I will need to provide a pension share. My ex has a higher salary of around 20k more than me every year. Is there a way that I am able to take this extra salary into account to reduce the amount if pension share?

Unlikely but more details needed.
The argument will be that you both benefitted from his higher salary and it meant you could save more money.

A lot may depend on when the pension was built up, your ages, incomes, ages of children, other assets and length of marriage.
