What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Ii am going through divorce proceedings and i have just seen the draft ot the Consent Order written by my spouses solicitor.

we have agreed a settlement and are looking for a Clean Break divorce , our marriage was just on 4 years.
I am retaining the property that was solely mine but became matrimonial home, the settlement is a lot more than half our combined marital finances.and my ex wife as enough money to purchase a property with the need of a small mortgage.
we have agreeed the fgures and this is in the consent order, but i suspect her solicitor is trying to raise the settlement.
he as put a line or two in the consent order stating that my wife as acknowledged from her legal team that the settlement is to low, even though we agreed this without any duress, stress cohersion or otherwise.
can i ask and should i ask for those lines to be removed from the Consent order as they go some way to persuade a reading judge that the settlement is unfair.
