What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hey Alan,

How did matters re the MH pan out?

Complaining about sols in Scotland...procedures and forms available from www.lawscot.org.uk or Tel 0131 226 7411

You will be expected to have exhausted sols complaints procedure before approaching LSoS who will then give you similar disservice as your sol. Keep your communications with them short and in writing only. Be prepared for whitewash, nonsense and bull. Do not let them grind you down. The complaints investigators that I have dealt with are so far up the sols ass their eyes are brown...their correspondence is laughable if you can forget that the matter in hand has seriously negated your life. Good luck!

Yeah I am now finding this out. One example sums it up. My solicitor failed to lodge a document then in court denied ever seeing or knowing anything about it. However when replying to the complaints people she enclosed this very same document. Thing is they are refusing to do anything about this as the can't look at documents not lodged....as if it is my fault she failed to lodge it.

Also, she failed to use good evidence I supplied her with and repeatedly asked for her to use, this though was her opinion call and thus nothing can be done.

Shocking.
