What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Are you sure about this? Did you talk to your solicitor?
Maybe your ex is trying to make you nervous and create a rift between you and your solicitor. I am saying this because your solicitor doesn''t have any reason to side with your ex. I am a lawyer who works for a family law firm, yfamilylaw.ca. I have seen many divorce cases where the husband and wife do every possible thing to make sure that they verdict goes in their favour. This may be a similar game.

I emailed my solicitor 3 days ago and am still awaiting a reply. I did mention what stbx said but I darent really broach the subject incase it jeapodises my relationship with him. I already feel he has let me down with the kids issue, i never get replies, court dates have been forgotton about and ive also been given another solicitor when i turned up at court because he had arranged to deal with someone else and when I do speak to him its as if he''s just doing things for an easy life. I am on legal aid could this be the reason? I am just totally deflated by my whole legal experience
