What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hi,
I am a lone mother of two infant children (no family support) and I am yet to make a Will - due to my situation everything seems like a mountain and yet also due to my situation a Will is something I desperately need in place to protect my children!
I am seeking help regarding what is the best/cheapest way to obtain a Will/Life Insurance/Funeral Cost etc? (Id appreciate any advice)

I have attempted to do the above via Google etc, Ive even obtained forms in the past, however Ive struggled because there is no one whom I could place in charge - yet writing 'everything to go to my children' seems ignorant and they are only infants.
I also signed upto Polly however I felt bombarded by their phone calls, I thought they would locate the most appropriate cover for me, not contact me with different offers.
I also need to ensure if anything happens to me, my funeral is paid for etc?

Thanks for any help.

Have a look at this guide from Money Saving Expert - www.moneysavingexpert.com/family/free-cheap-wills/

March is Free Wills Month, and most charities will provide a free will in exchange for either a donation on the spot, or a small amount left in your will to them. The Cancer Research UK Free Will Service allows over-18s to get a free will. Might be worth looking at?

Thanks for this, unfortunately Free Wills Month is for people over a certain age.
I did see from this link that the union I am member of may offer free wills however.

Is there any advice re life insurance/funeral costs - what is the best option for me to take?
Thanks

Yep, most of them are for people over a certain age, which is why I highlighted the Cancer Research free Will.

I'd suggest having a look on either Money Saving Expert or on Money Helper (formerly Money Advice Service) for info about prepayment plans and life insurance.
