What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hi

Noticed these on this site and am interested, they seem really good on face value.

Has anyone any experience in using these products/services and can anyone offer any pros/cons of doing so?

Hello Rock

I think i was the first peep to buy the all in package, and got the absolute last week.

Total cost for myself includeing court fees was about £900ish from start to finish.

The send all the forms by email if you have a problem they give you the name of who to call or email, all emails were answered the same day some within an hour.

One quick telephone call to talk about the reason the marriage ended then they write s13 particulars, (peeps often trip up on this bit)

D8a was easy they do the affadavid and D84 to cut a long story short they do the lot.

I did have one problem but after speaking to a officer of the court turns out it was more about a pedantic judge than any error on the affadavid, wasnt a problem Simon sorted it, set us back 3 days.

I should add that i talked to 3 sols before useing the NFLP and not one of them answeres a single question with a straight answer they only wanted to talk money and deposits.

Call them have a chat is all i can say, i dont know many others on the site who got divorced in less than 6 months for less than a grand.

Hi Dukey,

Hope you don't mind me asking you a few questions just so that I can get some idea of where you are coming from to see if it would suit me to use the same service.

Were you petitioner or respondent? Also, did you sort all the finances out amicably(?) with your ex or did you have any dispute that the on-line sols were able to help you with?

I'm tempted instead of self repping but not sure yet.

Hello Duck

I was the petitoner the divorce was uncontested, this package is only of use to those who have agread finances.

If the divorce is contested call the NFLP for advice.

The ex was a bit suspicius, as i was paying all costs she agread.

I only have experience of NFLP so i cannot comment on others any questions i had were delt with quickley and without fuss.

Thanks Dukey,

I'm thinking the divorce would go through uncontested, but the finances may take some working out. My idea has been to use mediation for that then a solicitor obviously to tie things up. Once I can get STBX to agree to move with it.

Do you think this would be suitable for the all-in-one package?

Hello Duck

Providing you can agrea finaces then yes its fast easy and cheap, mediation is a good idea if you are both flexable and open to advice.
