What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

A friend of mine is in her divorce proceedings. But she wants to cease my lawyer's service and do a representation myself. Which form should she use and how much to pay to the court?

She wants to complete the form and submit it herself as she said she cant afford to pay lawyer anymore. Fair enough :(

The notification of change of solicitor is Form N434. Your friend needs to tick the box that her solicitor is ceasing to act for her and she will be representing herself. No fee.

I didn't fill in any form. I just wrote to the court advising them.

However, I believe my solicitor sent them the form as well.

There are forms but a notification to all parties is acceptable from a self repper...keep a paper trail!

Thanks. I did a google search and found 2 different forms from the HMRC website. Form N434 and FP8. Both are titled as Notice of Change of Solicitors. :ohmy:What's the difference between them? Does it matter if using a wrong one?

Manchao...as a self repper...send a letter and notify who has been copied in....the system does not give brownie points for best forms used...and the sols dont use them anyway

I'll repeat what I said before.

I didn't fill in any form. I just wrote to the court advising them.

However, I believe my solicitor sent them the form as well.
