We need to know as much as possible about the background to your case, details of the children, information about the current housing and school arrangements, a summary of the problems and issues you are having and an idea of what you are trying to achieve. |

![]() | 5) Preparation: Both you and the solicitor then prepare for your consultation. The solicitor will review your questionnaire. You should prepare a list of questions that you want to ask. |
![]() | 6) Consultation: At the appointed time the solicitor will call you for your consultation. They will try to understand your objectives (e.g. What level of contact are you looking for?). They will also need to understand something about your ex: are they willing to negotiate? are they likely to be reasonable? What do they want? You will also have an opportunity to ask them some specific questions. |
