My wife and I are currently in the process of separation and I am shortly to move out of the marital home into rented accomodation. She is a non-earner, and with three kids under 9 will not be able to earn much. I am a high earner and have agreed to continue paying the bills/mortgage/food etc as if we were still together. This is not affordable for long though. As I have left and she is now counted as single is she entitled to claim any benefits (we have minimal savings)?

Thanks

Yes.

She can claim the tax credits for the children and can claim jsa or is.
your legal obligation is to pay CM for the children.

3 kids under 9 will probably get her about £900-£1100 a month in CB CTC alone, add jsa at 65 a week she is looking at 1300 plus child maintenance from you, 3 children is 23%of your monthly income.
Get the mortgage put on interest only for some immediate financial relief while you sort out the finances then she will probably be able to stay afloat depending on her other outgoings.
With 3 children under 9 it would be unlikely working will outweigh childcare costs so you are probably looking at at least some sort of SM for a time depending on your ability to pay and her needs after tax credits.
