Someone recently told me that child maintenance payments do not count as income in relation to Child Tax credit. Does anyone know if this is the same for spousal maintenance?

Yes it is. CTC do not count maintenance, either child or spousal as taxable income, and therefore its not included in the calculations of a claim.

But the annoying thing is that it is taken into consideration on the person paying it out.... Surely it should be the same for both sides...

Its extremely unlikely that the NRP would be receiving CTC for the child[ren] they are paying CM for though.....
