As for your payments, if you go through the CSA they wont reduce at all. They just look at your income, not hers. How about it you claimed child benefit and tax credits for one child, and she claims for the other two? Would you be able to claim then?

will depend on how many children are being claimed for, at what rate, whether there are childcare costs to be claimed and where one or more of the children has a disability. I don''t think £10k is impossible with, say 3 children in full time childcare with a minimum wage earning single parent.

Good point, i hadnt thought of it like that! Still, not surprised some people make the choices they do with everything they have available to them!
