After a very long wrangle I got my CO at the end of December. I also had a job interview the day after I was in court and was lucky enough to get a job which started in Jan!

Previously I had been on JSA, (and IS before that). I went abroad for 2 working days over xmas which cancelled my JSA, then triggered off Housing benefit to cancel.

I didn''t get paid from work until the end of Feb, and it was over a month before I mananged to get the Housing benefit re-assessed so I was in a real mess £-wise until the beginning of March.

Just heard from the council who have again cancelled my Housing Benefit as I didn''t submit 3 payslips in time; so far I have only been paid twice and only have one payslip. Been on the phone and into the council office to try and get it sorted; they have suggested that I request a review of the cancellation and £1500 IOU that they say I need to repay as the info was late getting to them.

Please can anyone put my mind at rest? I made the claim for Housing Benefit in Jan after I had started my new job; I was awarded it based on the information I gave at the time and this has not changed...

I know that it will stop soon anyway as I am now waiting for the sale of the FMH to go through, but I know that when it happens I can go out and buy a place and pay much less on a mortgage than I so on rent.

Feel like I''m back on the verge of a big black hole finances-wise again.... I know I won''t be able to manage for long (and I''m not a benefits scrounger - I called myself that for so long last year whilst I got myself back on my feet, now just as I start to feel my way back onto -and dare I say back up - the career ladder, someone''s pulled the rug out from under me).

Im new to the benifit system due to divorce, and dont know if this info might help you.

I applied and was granted ESA income support in January.
Then applied for housing benifit and was granted help with mortgage interest in March.

Last week April I received letter from Council and I freaked out but it states that my housing benifit will stay the same and not be reduced.

I might be wrong but maybee it has to do with the New Universal Credits and the Benifit Cap or whatever its called.

If your income is more than £350 per week for Single person or £500 pw for couple you will loose the exstra money.

Is your benifits and pay more than £350 per week? This is just my own thoughts but Im new to this whole benifit system....and stay worried all the time.
