Hello, please can someone advise me how to go about applying to the court to have top up child maintenance paid?
My ex husband earns £5500 per week, so way above the CMS cap of £3000 per week, but refuses to help with any extras like school trips etc.
I cannot afford to use a solicitor so will need to pursue this myself.
many advice would be gratefully received.

What are the current arrangements for child maintenance? Is there a Consent Order, or a live CMS case, or a voluntary agreement between you?

While it is possible to apply to court for additional maintenance for a child, this is usually limited to special expenditures, such as private school fees, extra financial support for a disabled child, or step-children. As far as I know, this doesn't include items or expenditure that would usually be covered by standard CM payments, for example, school trips/school uniform, extra curricular activities, and so on.
