Ok so my eldest has been working now for a few years and I have just been paying for my youngest on an informal private agreement. He was 17 in September and has just secured an electricians apprenticeship where he goes to work for. 8 weeks then does 2 weeks full time in college ( block release) While at work he receives£5.45 per hour and when at college £4.80 per hour. I believe the course lasts 4 years.
Does this mean I can cancel my private arrangement? I’m confused by what I read and wouldn’t want my ex going to CSA if I was wrong to cancel . Can somebody please advise as I need to be 100% sure.
Thanks in advance

If it’s a private agreement you can stop paying whenever you wish.

If doing an apprenticeship your son no longer falls under remit of CMS

Hi I know I can stop but are you 100% sure that it won’t fall under CMS? How can I check please?

One day a week won’t be the minimum 12 hours required for full time education.

If you’re over 16 and not in full time non advanced education you don’t qualify for child benefit or CMS. Google it or ring them if you want to check.

Hi I got the course details wrong. He thinks he will work 8 weeks then do 2 weeks full time in college. Does this change anything?
