My solicitor informed me that cost can only be awarded by a judge t the Final Hearing but I have read on hear that may not be the case , sometime they can be awarded sooner. Please could someone clarify this.

Costs for ancilliary relief proceedings, the judge has already awarded full costs against him for the divorce petition.

OK....
At any hearing where a judge considers it has been a waste of time due to the conduct of one of the parties, the judge can make a costs order there and then that the defaulting party pay the costs "thrown away" for which he will set a figure.

The judge can also, at the final hearing, order one party to pay the costs of the other based on that person's poor conduct.
