At a final hearing is it better to go directly to instruct a barrister or should i go through a family solicitor firm ?
how do you actually pay fr these services when your financial situation has been compromised as a result of the divorce and can you turn up at the final trial on own without representation?

Yes you can represent yourself at a final hearing, however for some people, they feel that having a barrister at the FH would be better to ensure that thier case is properly presented to the court, and the relevant arguments and points are put across clearly. Wikivorce works with a chambers who provide direct access barristers at fixed fees, call the helpline for more information.

In relation to funding people often take out a loan or borrow from family. It's an expensive service and some people have no choice but to represent themselves.

Some solicitors would fund the case to the end but only those who are guaranteed to get paid at the end which is not always the case, particularly if there is a delayed sale of a property.
