I am finding it so frustrating during this process that deadlines are so often ignored. As a Litigant in Person i have made absolutely sure that i have submitted my documents etc by the date ordered by the court. What is frustrating is that the respondents solicitor has not once complied with this but there is no penalty or recourse.

I am currently waiting for information from the respondent which I was supposed to receive by Tuesday 5th Jan and even though i have chased i just get no response. What then is the point of having a deadline??

Very frustrating!

Unfortunately there is rarely any penalty for missing deadlines unless it directly effects a Judge. It's different in civil law but family law is more relaxed.

I understand that as a litigant in person you need as much time as possible to deal with things with which you are unfamiliar which might take a lawyer a fraction of the time. It's not really an equality of arms is it?

No its not equal at all. I think also that once Lawyers know you are a Litigant in Person they take liberties!

I'm so grateful for the help and advice of my wikivorce advisor. I would be a nervous wreck without someone helping me through the different steps of this process. There are some things that you just can't google. You need someone to just ask. I highly recommend using the paid services on this site.
