can I also suggest that there are 3 main credit reference agencies in UK, Equifax, Experian and another who''s name always escapes me! and ideally you need to contact all three. Your bank should be able to supply you with their name and address.

My x is crap with money, I contacted all 3 to sever our links as soon as I was divorced. I didn''t want him leeching off me because I am very proud of my rating and nurture it more than my own children ;-)

xx

Ok I will contact them...I''ve spent 20 years building Mline up so can''t understand why he would make us both have bad credit history.

Ok thank you.
I had a lot of trouble when we split as my ex wouldn''t pass his new address on.

sorry Cazza, but ''he'' hasn''t, as such, given you a bad history. It was a joint debt so you''ve jointly made it bad. All the lender see''s is 2 people who haven''t full filled their agreement.

It''s crap! especially as it''s gonna take 6 years to shake off. BUT!! if he''s taken an IVA it may be in his name now.
But your recent decline may have nothing to do with it. Ask the recent one which credit ref agency they use.
have you seen your own credit file? you can write to all 3, pay a fee and see your file. It will tell you all your financial info. I found mine interesting as it listed accounts that I had a teenager that I''d forgotten about, and store cards that I''d not used for years and catalogues that were out of business (I think....Freeman''s? is that still going) All these things have an impact.

I was told that basically we have a bag of credit floating out there. So all these things had reduced my bag ie I had a £250 limit with Freeman''s, £500 with Next, £1500 with Very, my mortgage, my credit card (nil balance but a nice amount available) So if I applied for another credit card it would say ''that quite enough!'' it doesn''t take into account the fact that I don''t use most of it just the fact that''s it''s allocated and available- am I making sense?

And what is that all about? My x won''t tell me where he lives. What does he think I''ll do? I only ever wanted to know as he claimed during proceedings that he was really ill and apparently used to pass out. I needed to know for our kids sake. I taught them how to contact me if any thing happened. But then as soon as the Absolute landed on the mat he made an amazing recovery- praise the lord!

Yes I check my credit file every few years and it''s that I''m afraid.
I know what your saying about joint reasonably...before we separated and after I was paying the full repayment amount.it was only when the other side has said they were paying full amount I stopped but he missed a few payments...I had the company ring my new house asking for him..not me.
I wasn''t even aware that he had set up a repayment plan @ 50 a month till I received a statement which is why I called them and explained saying his solicitor has said he would pay full amount....I''ve heard nothing else fr.om them.
He didn''t pass his address on to the loan company they weren''t allowed to take it from me due to confidentially.
