Hi there, it''s been a while since I''ve been here... I was divorced over a year ago, ex got house and all equity and I got stiffed, gave her all equity, a quarter of my pension and had to take 20k debt from house...
I had to keep name on mortgage ax she can''t afford it on paper. Since having all debt I can''t afford to live and have been declared bankrupt.
My question is: am I now free of mortgage and will they inform my ex who still pays mortgage and is jointly liable on debts I took.

You need to speak to your official receiver re your house.

It could be that if their is equity in the property they may order the house to be sold, to release the equity in your home to the people/companies you owe money too.

If not they can put a charge on the house - therefore register it with Land registry that they have a charge on the property, and that the house cannot be sold without their agreement.

If the official receiver thinks you have more money than you need to live off of, it could be that you are made subject to an IPO/IPA for sometime.

Did you put your mortgage on your paperwork and the outstanding amount on it?

Is your pension in payment or likely to be in the next few years?

Did you declare yourself bankrupt, or did someone go to court to make you a bankrupt?

Hope this helps a little?
