Help with panic attacks needed

Hi

Thank you so much for this wonderful website. I have been visiting the site over the last few years as I watched my marriage going down the drain but felt powerless to do anything. My stbx was a serial cheater.

Now that the final nail is in the coffin, I have started having serious panic attacks especially when sleeping.

Any ideas on how I can prevent them and how long goes this period lasts?

I am in a very dark place but can’t really grief or cry,

Hello, and welcome to Wikivorce, I'm sorry you have a need to be here.

Panic attacks are scary, but there are treatments available. You need to speak with your GP about what services are available locally, ie talking therapies, local support groups, etc and if you need prescription medication such as beta-blockers or SSRIs.

I used to have horrible panic attacks when I was going through my divorce - it was probably a delayed reaction to the trauma of abuse I had experienced in my marraige. Over time they did reduce both in terms of severity and frequency. I hope you get the right help for you, you don't need to suffer unnecessarily.
