Hi, I’m experimenting with the calculator because it keeps producing different results for me. One time it said 50/50, but every other time it’s 60/40 to she who thinks she must be obeyed. I just put in the following data and it came back 40/60 in husband’s favour and I don’t get why...
25 year marriage
no kids
matrimonial house 900,000
wife earnings net 2k
husband earnings net 2k
CETV wife 400k
CETV husband 400k

no outgoings entered
just trying to understand the circumstances under which the calculator arrives at 50/50.

any advice welcome.

The calculator is a bit of a blunt instrument. There may be some inbuilt bias deep in the algorithm perhaps - especially if it is programmed based on real life outcomes?? It certainly isn't a substitute for going through the figures and the parties' needs with a human being ?!

Even if you end up before the courts, there is what is known as 'the spectrum of fairness' which can vary outcomes between 50:50 and 70:30 depending on needs and the judge's discretion - and both are fair in law.
