Hello!

Does anyone know if i have to have a copy of the marriage certificate to start the petition or can i use the original which I have?

I can't see that there is any problem with using an original cert but you would be advised to get another copy in case the cert is lost/damaged.

I had to supply the original MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE AND IT IS NOT RETURNED AFTERWARDS...THAT'S IT...GONE FOR GOOD.when I divorced my x.I forgot to copy it though so if I wanted a copy now I'd have to pay £7 FEE TO RECORDS OFFICE.
