Hi,

My wife and I have been separated for over 2 years and have decided to divorce. We are both amicable and have decided that we will hopefully complete the divorce with the minimum of fuss and as least cost as possible. Hence we want to use this sites online service. We only have one child who is 22 and lives with me so now CM probs. We have also agreed on finances etc So on to the next step.

We have agreed that I will petition for divorce on the grounds of 2 yrs separation with consent. Do we each order the divorce and Consent Order pack (£349) from the site ? and what happens then.

Red,

You only need to purchase the wiki/NFLP divorce service once (not one each).

The package should be purchased in the name of the petitioner (in your case this is you).

If you want to go halves then, you pay the full amount on your card, and arrange for her to pay her half to you by cheque / cash or whatever.

If you have ANY questions about this ring the number at top right of the site.

a solicitor is not allowed to act for both husband and wife due to professional regulations laid down by the law society.

Okay so how do we get around this then does that mean that she would have to use another online divorce website?

you do not need a sol for the divorce. You will each need legal advice re the consent - but probably only one meeting with sol - taking the financial disclosure stuff and draft consent with you. I wd ring round local sols and ask someone to look over the consent stuff for one of you. You can submit all the forms and stuff yourself.

All,
thanks for the advice. I think that I will book a free 30 min call to reassure myself of the procedure.

Red,

You only need to use one site.

ie if you choose the Wiki/NFLP service then NFLP will handle the whole process.

For the consent order it is a requirement that you both have received legal advice that it is fair/OK.

NFLP will do this for you. Your wife should take the draft consent order to a second, independent local solicitor just to get the 'nod' that it is not unfair to her.
