As part of our ongoing efforts to provide more choice and more affordable services to people facing divorce or separation, we have today launched a low cost legal helpline.

The helpline number is 0808 ANSWERS (0808 2679377)

The service offers a consultation with a legal advisor over the phone for a low fixed fee of £29.95.

The line is operated by Law Express, a leading UK provider of telephone legal advice who provide legal advice lines to the employees of John Lewis, the Nationwide and many other leading companies.

The line is staffed by experts in family law who all have law degrees and at least 5 years post qualification experience as a family law solicitor. These experts no longer practice as high street solicitors (i.e. they are non-practising) and they now provide their expert legal advice direct to the public over the phone.

Why is Wikivorce offering this service?

Quite simply because there is a need for it.

The Wikivorce community offer a tremendous amount of information, support and advice to its members via the forums and the library.

For 90% of the questions you might have above divorce and separation you can find the answers free on the website.

However, there is a clear need for a service that offers individually tailored legal advice to help you make key decisions during your divorce or separation process.

Until now all we have been able to do is refer people back to high street solicitors for those aspects that require a professional legal advisor.

But as we all know that can cost from £150 to £250 per hour and you may have to wait some days to get an appointment.

Now you have another choice.

You are welcome to make full use of all of the Wikivorce free resources to get a basic grounding, and then use the 0808 ANSWERS advice line for those aspects where when you really need professional legal expertise.

I hope many of you will find this service useful.

Kind Regards
Ian
