x2b mentioned a couple of times about my jewellery in the bank. I was given these to me by my dad on my wedding day. Can he claim anything from my jewellery? I dont know how much the jewellery is worth I have never seen it from the time I banked it in 1992. I also think he had some of his little valuables in the bank with it and not sure if he also had a key.

I think anything in the marital pot with a value of £500 per single item can be included within the calculation, but it would be a sad man to try and claim these.

ssoria are there cultural issues relating to the jewellery ?
Some cultures have very specific rules on wedding jewellery I believe the uk courts would honour these.

well not really cultural but these are of sentimental value to me and because we are both muslims and had an islamic marraige. In islamic divorce the lady can keep all gifts including the ones from her husbands side and parents side.
YES HE IS A SAD MAN
married in 1991
