Hi Everyone,

I am hoping to get opinions on what is a fair monthly financial settlement with my ex and the best way forward.

We have 4 children the eldest being nearly 20, the 11, 9 & 7

I purchased the house (which is solely in my name) when me and the ex split up (for the first time) after the birth of my eldest.
At this point I had another child who is now 14 (who i see and pay the child support due).

I have move out of the house but currently continue to pay the mortgage, phone and one or two other bills (kid need the internet right..:woohoo:) which equals approx £500 per month.

I was seeing my kids once or twice a week until and unpleasant episode this week. I am currently lodging, but intend to get my own place.

My dilemma is the ex(who is not working) has told me she has been to see a solicitor.

I am now concerned that any court order will leave me in difficulties financially.

I have calculated the CSA payments I would have to make and it is less than what I am currently paying to keep them housed

I am unaware of my ex''s intentions, but mine was to keep the house on for stability for the kids and one day be their inheritance.

My income is approx 1500 per month.

How much per month do you think is fair?
Will the courts take my current out-goings to house my kids into consideration?

Are you married?

If not and the house is in your name only then your stbx might discover she wouldnt be entitled to a share of the property but could live there until youngest is 18.

Hi MrsMathsisfun.
No, not married.... I have no issue with them living there whatsoever, for as long as they like.... its more about what is a fair financial arrangement for my income/circumstances.

You will need to pay CM for the 11, 9 and 7 year olds.

Do you have a CSA case for your 14 year old? If so best to do it via CSA.

As your not married your stbx isnt entitled to sm, so the only amount you would need to pay is child maintenance.

Not sure whether you would be expected to continue to pay mortgage but if you are then you could charge her occuparional rent.
