Hi, I'm nearing my final hearing in September 2020, and I am currently divorced. My solicitors bill is already up to £17,000 and rising, I feel that my solicitor is not doing her job properly and I have complained to her. Asking me to remind her about my case, wrong information on my form E completed by her.
Has anyone ever changed their solicitor?
My Ex husband is hiding funds, evidence in Bank statements.
He spent his entire pension in the last 15 months before separation. £68,000 was paid into his single bank account, I had no access to his bank account.
I have done a break down of money spent towards home improvements, bills but £20,000 was cash withdrawals.
I just want half of the family home once sold and to leave my pension alone.
I am living with my new partner, why should this matter, I pay rent to my new partner. moved in with him after the divorce was final.
Ex has lied on his form E cashed in pensions after the Decree Absolute. One pension fund has 47,1100 placed somewhere else and he still wants half of mine.

Help I'm struggling with what to do I want to go to court because he is lying, there are too many red flags in his paper work that he provided. How do I represent myself as I cant afford to pay out anymore money.

I feel like giving up. My daughters hate me for moving away 4 and a half hrs drive to be exact just to be happy. I spent 22 yrs of being miserable.

If you want to cease being represented, you need to inform your solicitor and the court that you are going to self represent. Your files will be released if your bill is fully paid.

It is important that you understand the process and know what the court has ordered should be done before final hearing. Are you the Applicant? Is your ex represented?

What advice has your solicitor given about what a fair settlement could look like? What offers have been exchanged? Did the judge make any comments at FDR??

It is perfectly possible to self represent all the way through but it is worth considering a direct access barrister at final hearing, especially if the other side is represented. The cost (allow £3.5 -4.5k/day) may be worth the benefit.

This site offers services to help litigants in person to understand the process and prepare for hearings. Give the helpline a call.

Just wanted to thank you for your OP
it sounds similar (ish) to the position my fiance is now stuck in having got to the point of *maybe* having a Consent Order provisionally agreed. We have run the pot dry. he was also married for almost 22 years and his ex is a complete nightmare, we don't want to continue with the process but understand it isnt possible just to stop it there. Our originally intended marriage in November almost certainly wont be going ahead because of it. we are exhausted having spent 3 years together dealing with his exes lies but have no idea what we are supposed to do now. I hope you have managed to find some peace in your situation and it got there in the end? I cant seem to see the date from when this was posted. Keep moving forward
