I need some advice, don’t know what to do?I’ve been married for 40years aged 60. For the majority of those 40 years lead a happy life with my husband but the last 3 years it’s gone downhill rapidly. I don’t work as I have arthritis in both knees can hardly walk these days. My husband still works and has an RAF Pension as he did 22 years service. He now works for the police as a civilian. Not the best paid job but with the pension we are ok financially. We owe 18k on mortgage house I valued at approx 275k. No debt at all and have 15k in savings. He also has been paying into his works pension for the last 15 years. I just don’t think I can live with him anymore all we do is row but I’m am frightened of what the future will hold if I decide to divorce. I don’t want to end up living in rented accommodation for the rest of my life struggling financially. Help. I just need to know what I’m entitled to.

Starting point would be 50:50 division of assets after such a long marriage.

Main assets are going to be the house and pensions.

Do you have any pension?.

You will each need a one bedroomed home. Are they available for c£130-140k by you?

Thanks for that advice. I don’t have a pension, because he was in a the forces for so many years I have just had odd jobs here and there. Always worked though up until 2 years ago when my arthritis got so bad. Just never paid into a pension. If I buy a house I’m just worried that I won’t have enough money to live on. He gets £900 a month RAF pension and the pension he is paying into won’t be a great deal.
