Legal aid does not cover representation by solicitor or barrister at a final hearing when it comes to child issues?

Asking for a mate who does not have a computer. I read so on the LSC website and wanted to clarify it.

His ex is on LA and had already had 2 barristers when hearings have been cut short. ANd is wanting to know how she can afford it if so..

Thanks

Legal Aid is provided to those who are eligible to receive it and whose case has merit. If the certificate is granted solely to deal with children issues, the assisted person is unlikely to have to repay their legal fees although they may have to make a monthly contribution to fees based on an assessment of their means.

I'm not sure what page on the LSC website that you read but the LSC will fund proceedings up to and including a final hearing and will fund an appeal too if there is merit in the appeal.

Children Act matters commonly involve many hearings and the LSC will continue to fund those proceedings as long as it is deemed appropriate to do so.

For information about the levels of funding see Section 2 (page 5) of the Funding Code Criteria at the LSC website.
