what exactly is legal aid ? a solicitor will give you a second class service will treat you as a second class piece of crap and if you dare to ask them how things are going with your case or ask them to chase things up then god help you because they will label you as difficult - blacklist you with every organisation they can - lsc other sols etc - then you have to pay the bill which will be capped to the highest amount - complain to the legal ombudsman and lol he will side with your solicitor who they know has broken every rule in the book - and as for legal aid what a complete joke - get rid of the whole corrupt system fat cats that take money from the poor and sit back laughing and taking the pxxs out of the poorer lower classes

Legal aid is public funding which assists the most vulnerable who cannot afford private practitioners, a high percentage of those who have this assistance are mothers who have children.

I have said it many times, those who chose family law are not in it for the money, the pay is rubbish compared to other specialisms.

Probably the most formidable icy cool solicitor i have dealt with is a legal aid solicitor, i asked her why she doesn't earn big money with private clients, her answer was simple those who really need her help can`t afford it, says it all really.

Solicitors follow a strict code and are bound by many rules, if you think they have broken them then you should contact the SRA.Some solicitors do break the rules, the result is they are struck off the roles, once that happens they can never work in law again, for this reason and others they don`t break rules, any who do suffer accordingly.

My ex. dil was on legal aid. To be honest I thought her solicitor was far better than my son's solicitor.

The cab have no family law experts, solicitors have no sway with the lcs the sra or the or the ombudsman. You have obviously have had a bad experience and it's easy to tar the entire profession because of it, it's wrong though.

I wouldn't ask if I knew. I have enough trouble getting the LSC to do something using official channels rather than using the conspiracy channel that you allude to. It's unfortunate that you believe that such things go on when there is no evidence to support it.

If the representative from CAB has a grievance I'm sure they could post the details on this forum, under an alias if necessary? I suspect that they will politely decline...

I take no offence in what you say - I joined this forum to respond to a post similar to yours and the intervening years have proved to be most rewarding.
