I am closing in on the end of a divorce case against my ex and out of the blue I have had an application for legal aid for him presented. What I am surprised about is that he has significant income from some people he has renting rooms in his house and I thought this would put him over the legal aid limit. I did think that, slippery character that he is, he might be intending to backdate his legal aid application to when he began the case, about a year ago, and have instructed his tenants to pay cash in the meantime. If he is claiming LA back to Apr last year should I ask the court to look at his bank statement for the 12 months prior to when he instructed the lawyer?

Is there some kind of template of what you can count in your allowable expenses, I am thinking that if he is eligible for it then I might be too!
