I am at the latter stage(FH) 6wks time so far costs incurred almost £40K sols need £10K 1st installment to carry on to FH, I have explained that I simply havnt got anymore money at all borrowed to the limit friends family bank I am at present getting £200pw from employment (own business) that Ive been suspended from by stbx.

Am I entitled to legal aid and if so have I got time to go through all that paperwork now.

what happens if I cant come up with the funds sols needs in time Ive got 1wk to pay up. Ive tried contacting them but to no avail, no answer to tel calls and emails.

I was told during my free half hour that any capital you own that normally prevents one from qualifying from legal aid is not included in the assessment if it is the ownership of this that is in dispute. Since everything you own is in dispute during a divorce then what you own doesn't count to your entitlement. However, you need to pay back your bills after the end of the case if you have any money left, but only at £60/hr.

It does seem hard however to find a legal aid solicitor - I'm still looking. Does anyone have any ideas about how good advice from one is - my ex is fully tooled up and has access to money from in-laws plus took money from joint accounts before freezing them
