My child’s mum is sending them to school under the key worker scheme.

I have offered that they stay with me during the week so she can go work, and they can be safe and study from home.

She has refused and sent them anyway. I have contacted the school to advise them that there is an alternative.

The school has 5 times the amount of children in compared to the last lockdown in March.

I have pointed out the obvious that she is putting them at risk. But she still refuses to let them stay with me.

Is there anything else I can do?

Is your child highly vulnerable to catching Covid-19 because they are either of the categories of "highly vulnerable" or "extremely highly vulnerable"?

There is clear evidence of the negative educational impact of missing school due to a school lockdown closure, particularly for younger children; and that not going to school has negatively impacted the mental and physical health of children and young people. The scientific evidence shows that coronavirus (COVID-19) presents a much lower risk to children than adults of becoming severely ill. There is also some limited evidence that children may play a lesser role in transmission than adults.

Are there any court orders regulating your children's time with you?

No they are not highly vulnerable. And there isn’t any court order we have co-parenting responsibilities.

The school rules about sending children dictate they must not have any alternative childcare available to them.

Unfortunately anything I disagree with or take issue she will just say speak to my solicitor. So it very much feels like I have no say in my child’s life generally.

This particular issue isn’t just for the good of my child but everyone in general as we tackle the virus. The crazy thing is she works for the NHS.
