I am just starting divorce against husband of 37 yrs. He is retired firefighter of 10 years. We have always lived on his monthly pension & savings as I have zero hours contract so just pocket money for me. Own home. Does anyone know what I can expect to be awarded at the end of all this. Solicitor talks about CETV. Thanks

After such a long marriage the start point for division of everything is 50:50.
This means house, savings and pension income. They are not his, they are matrimonial assets!!

Have a good look round the site, ask whatever questions you need and if you need further help there is always the helpline.

Hi thanks for your reply. I understand that 50/50 is the starting point for division. As he is already drawing his pension monthly do you know how does the CETV works? Would there be a lump sum or just monthly maintenance to me. Solicitor cannot confirm until details received but I just wondered what options I may have.

It would be a oension share to equalise incomes in retirement. This means the fund is split into two separate pensions that are operated independently of each other. The pension may be shared within the scheme (a better option if available) or the funds paid into a private pension.
