I am acting as an LIP and have provided evidence of my mortgage capacity to the court and my STBXs solicitor (as required in the court order). My STBXs solicitor has now asked me to work with a mortgage broker that she intends to jointly instruct in order to obtain a joint report detailing our mortgage capacity. Apparently the law has changed recently - this is in order to ensure that the advice provided is impartial and would potentially stand up to scrutiny in court.
Has anyone heard of this? Does this sound correct?

My Order just says that I need to provide evidence of my mortgage raising capacity.
Any advice greatly appreciated.

No idea about a joint one. In my case, we had to each provide mortgage capacity reports and that was only a few months ago. I engaged my own broker who prepared a very thorough report.

I think this is all part of the new rules in financial cases. As far as I am aware a joint mortgage report is encouraged but is not essential.

We are going to use a Joint mortgage capacity report but only because we found it was nearly £50 cheaper. We've been able to supply documents individually to the mortgage broker (I don't want to be anywhere near my STBEX right now).

Try these people if you're stuck, they provided us with the report within 48 hours of us completing the personal details www.themcrco.co.uk
