I recently bought the Brits Hits 2008 double CD. Just love driving round listening to it at full volume. Majority of songs are suberb.

Here's one

For Daisy_May. I assume this is your song

Well it doesn't quite fit with the thread title, but the only contemporary CD I have bought in years is Amy Winehouse's Back to Black. Her voice is just fantastic, amazing, souful, and the arrangements perfectly complementary.

The lyrics are interesting of course :woohoo: , but as someone who has had to bottle up my emotions for years it's good to hear the opposite!

Don't think "No No No to Rehab" will make the wiki album - lol.

So my nomination is Tina Turner's "What's love got to do with it"

Here is an oldie but the words just totally sum up how I would like to feel about a future partner.

The Turtles - So Happy Together (1967)

There are a couple of dancey numbers by Peyton that would fit into the Wiki album no problem

Higher Place -

Here's what ya gotta do
lift your head up high
move your body to the rhythms of a bluer sky
put this old world behind you where it belongs
close your eyes and come with me
let's sing a different song

Also 'I'll Rise', which is based on a poem by Maya Angelou -

You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may tread me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I'll rise.

Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops.
Weakened by my soulful cries.

You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I'll rise.

Good stuff
