Hi, ive just received an email informing me my wife has applied for a divorce & must respond in 14 days. Number 1 do I have to reply? & 2 how or when does the money/assets etc get sorted out in this?

Yes you should respond. If you don't the divorce can still go ahead but it may be more complicated and she may want to claim costs against you.

You can have a legally binding financial settlement once the conditional order is in place. It is a good idea to reach agreement on the finances before the final order to dissolve the marriage.

Discussions about finances should start ASAP. The first steps are full financial disclosure and an assessment of your respective needs.

Also it states the applicant is intending to apply to the court for financial orders & of the children of the applicant & respondant? Is that totally different to the divorce application? Am quite happy to sign the divorce but not sure about the other things as yet. Replies welcome thanks
