hi have posted approximate details for division of everthing yesterday but have had no reply yet.
can anyone help as ex is now saying i am not answering him ( he sent me an email on the 3rd but i did not see it till 9th, but to which i replied to on that day) and wants to start judicial separtion which will cost more than 10K which he is happy to pay on principle as it will give him peace of mind, if i do not reply to him by friday.
i desparately want to come to some agreement as the legal costs would more than needed to pay to finish the work on the matrimonial home,
urgent guidance on what i would be entitled to needed

Hi, you have quite a lot of 'assets' but no indication of whether you wish to liquidate them or not.

What you agree will be down to what both of you want out of the separation.

It's usually 50/50 on everything that constitutes 'marital assets' - ie anything you added to your estate between your marriage and your separation date. But it doesn't have to be, you can agree anything that suits your personal circumstances.

If you want to retain something (eg a house, jewellery, car) then you would have to value it and trade it for something of equal value or cash.

In place of cash, you can grant him security in the homes you have, perhaps with a date where he can cash those in - after the kids have finished education for example.

Don't panic !! It really is just a case of adding everything up, assets on one side, debts on the other. Then pick what you want from it and try to agree. If you're on speaking terms, it's easier.

Btw - not sure what the legal aid level is but you might be eligible. You can certainly try the Citizen's Advice Bureau who may be able to point you in the direction of some support.
