Changing solicitors? Any recommendations

I am thinking changing solicitors I had a FDA and not convinced by both my solicitor and barrister. My barrister says I should not change solicitors as could be costly in terms of them getting up to speed on things is this the case?. Also looking a someone around or near St Albans herts could do watford or north london.

I think you should what you feel is best. If you're not happy then please change. It's really not worth being stuck with someone and paying their fees if you ain't happy with them.

Have you thought about direct access Barrister? Don't worry about where the Barrister is from as some are willing to travel across the country.

I can only tell you from my experience, I was not happy with my solicitor but he kept telling me it was the other side that were delaying things.

I stuck with him thinking the extra cost of changing was not worth it or the hassle. At the final hearing he shoved off half way through and I reckon his incompetence cost me £40,000 !!

Since the hearing I have found out his incompetence caused delays he didn't submit my offers didn't chase paperwork etc. I have found this out from my ex wife's solicitor.

If you are not happy with your solicitor get rid of them they work for you and don't believe a word they tell you. Go for a firm of solicitors not an independent which is what I did.

I wish I had self represented and employed a Barrister for the final hearing although had I self represented I think it would have been resolved at FDR stage.

I am awaiting my solicitors bill. Should be interesting.

I feel uneasy to self represent as its a little complex asmy 80 year old father has to intervine we have a three day hearing schedule and so many dealines. I did not think that much of my barrister my solicitor was crazily expensive I still feel I can settle this some how and avoid the crazy bills my father will need a barrister and maybe a solicitor as I do not think he can do all the paper work going to court is daunting in any case but at 80 things can be a little hard. I will have to find the money for my father not sure how yet he has nothing. I was wondering if anyone had a good recommendation for a solicitor as near to st albans as possible.

My cousin used a firm called xxxxxx which I think is in your neck of the woods. He said they were OK but it was a straightforward divorce.

Thank you stay positive I did visit them I found them rather pushy, there was firm I felt comfortable with in Hemal Hempstaed witts XXxxxxxxx was really really professional but sadly they wont take me on as they say too much water under the bridge etc my case has gone too far for them to get things done in limited time frame.

I might carry on with my solicitor for a few weeks as there are a few bits pending then look in the new year. I need to find someone to represent my father at the same time this is more urgent to say the least as it involves TOLATA issues.

Such a waste of money all this if my stbx could just talk and be civilised we could sort this out with all the crazy expense.
